About Valladolid

Valladolid is a Spanish city located in north-western Spain. It is the capital of the province of Valladolid and the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León. It has a population of 305,000. The city’s metropolitan area is formed by 23 municipalities. Its size and the commitment of its institutions and residents make Valladolid a welcoming and cosmopolitan city, as well as one that is free from pollution and traffic jams, clean and safe. In 2011 it was recognised as the world’s best-lit city.Valladolid boasts first-rate infrastructure in terms of design and capacity, allowing it to hold medium-sized and large events and congresses. The city has become a national benchmark in congress tourism, with extensive experience in holding international events and welcoming visitors with open arms.

It is also close to Madrid, and benefits from a broad range of facilities including AVE high-speed train connections and an international airport, as well as a wide array of hotels, food and drink and leisure options.

It is straightforward for people and dealer merchandise to enter Spain under both European and Spanish law, thanks to trade agreements and international treaties with other countries.

The design of the city offers proximity between points of interest and the convention center, all within 10 minutes’ walking distance. There are hundreds of restaurants, tapas bars and hotels within this small radius of action.

Connections with Madrid’s international airport via the AVE high-speed train only take an hour (similar to Heathrow and London), with special promotions for congress delegates. There are agreements in place with the airline Air Europa, which will offer special prices to championship participants. There will also be the possibility of using the city bus service for free with the computerised attendee wristband. The wristband identifying championship attendees will be computerised with a payment platform.

The cost of a 4-star hotel will be around €50 during the championship, while a set lunch with wine in a good restaurant will be €12-15. It will be possible to pay the registration fee in instalments, as well as to change the name on the registration up to 2 months before the event.

Our leisure activity programme includes visits to wineries, where wine tastings will be held, in addition to tastings of other local products such as ham…Accreditations will be given out upon arrival at the hotel, to prevent long queues and wasted time.

Networking area. For the first time, the championship will feature an area so that all championship attendees who would like to take the opportunity to network with local businesses will have whatever they need. We aim to offer an original space that will make it easy to bring business interests and economic development together, taking advantage of the championship participants’ time in Valladolid. Prizes in contracts for the winning artists. There will be a large team of volunteers on hand.

English will be the official language of the championship, and there will be services for translation into Spanish (and vice versa). Delegations with more than 200 participants will have translation services into the language of their country of origin.
